New upper limit on the decay [Formula presented]
Physical Review D Particles Fields Gravitation and Cosmology 56:9 (1997) 5359-5365
Abstract:
We have searched for the rare decay of the [Formula presented] meson [Formula presented] using the CLEO II detector. The [Formula presented]’s were produced in [Formula presented] collisions with 10 GeV center-of-mass energy at the Cornell Electron Storage Ring (CESR). We find with [Formula presented] confidence the upper limit on the branching fraction [Formula presented]. The application of conventional elementary particle theory to this decay predicts a branching fraction of about [Formula presented]. © 1997 The American Physical Society.Observations of the Hubble Deep Field with the Infrared Space Observatory - III. Source counts and P(D) analysis
Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society 289:2 (1997) 471-481
Abstract:
We present source counts at 6.7 and 15 μm from our maps of the Hubble Deep Field (HDF) region, reaching 38.6 μJy at 6.7 μm and 255 μJy at 15 μm. These are the first ever extragalactic number counts to be presented at 6.7 μm, and are three decades fainter than IRAS at 12 μm. Both source counts and a P(D) analysis suggest that we have reached the Infrared Space Obsen'atory (ISO) confusion limit at 15 μm: this will have important implications for future space missions. These data provide an excellent reference point for other ongoing ISO surveys. A no-evolution model at 15 μm is ruled out at > 3σ, while two models which fit the steep IRAS 60-μm counts are acceptable. This provides important confirmation of the strong evolution seen in IRAS surveys. One of these models can then be ruled out from the 6.7-μm data. © 1997 RAS.Properties of jets in W boson events from 1.8 TeV p̄ p collisions
Physical Review Letters 79:24 (1997) 4760-4765
Abstract:
We present a study of events with W bosons and hadronic jets produced in p̄p collisions at a center of mass energy of 1.8 TeV. The data consist of 51 400 W± → e± decay candidates from 108 pb-1 of integrated luminosity collected using the CDF detector at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. Cross sections and jet production properties have been measured for W + ≥1 to ≥4 jet events. The data are compared to predictions of leading-order QCD matrix element calculations with added gluon radiation and simulated parton fragmentation.Properties of six-jet events with large six-jet mass at the Fermilab proton-antiproton collider
