Abstract:

We present a measurement of the ratio of top-quark branching fractions R = B(t --> Wb)/B(t --> Wq), where q can be a b, s, or a d quark, using lepton-plus-jets and dilepton data sets with an integrated luminosity of approximately 162 pb(-1) collected with the Collider Detector at Fermilab during Run II of the Tevatron. The measurement is derived from the relative numbers of tt events with different multiplicity of identified secondary vertices. We set a lower limit of R > 0.61 at 95% confidence level.

Abstract:

The hc(1P1) state of charmonium has been observed in the reaction ψ(2S)→π0hc→(γγ)(γηc) using 3.08×106 ψ(2S) decays recorded in the CLEO detector. Data have been analyzed both for the inclusive reaction, where the decay products of the ηc are not identified, and for exclusive reactions, in which ηc decays are reconstructed in seven hadronic decay channels. We find M(hc)=3524.4±0. 6±0.4MeV which corresponds to a hyperfine splitting ΔMhf(1P) M(3PJ)-M(1P1)=+1.0±0.6±0.4MeV, and B(ψ(2S)→π0hc) ×B(hc→γηc)=(4.0±0.8±0.7)×10-4. © 2005 The American Physical Society.

Abstract:

Using 3.08×106 ψ(2S) decays observed in e+e- collisions by the CLEO detector, we present the results of a study of the ψ(2S) decaying into baryon-antibaryon final states. We report the most precise measurements of the following eight modes: pp̄, ΛΛ̄, Σ+Σ+̄ (first observation), Σ0Σ0̄, Ξ-Ξ-̄, and Ξ0Ξ0̄ (first observation), and place upper limits for the modes Ξ(1530)0Ξ(1530)0̄ and Ω-Ω-̄. © 2005 The American Physical Society.

Abstract:

We present a study of the production of KS0 and Λ0 in inelastic pp̄ collisions at s=1800 and 630 GeV using data collected by the CDF experiment at the Fermilab Tevatron. Analyses of KS0 and Λ0 multiplicity and transverse momentum distributions, as well as of the dependencies of the average number and pT of KS0 and Λ0 on charged particle multiplicity, are reported. Systematic comparisons are performed for the full sample of inelastic collisions, and for the low and high momentum transfer subsamples, at the two energies. The pT distributions extend above 8GeV/c, showing a pT higher than previous measurements. The dependence of the mean KS0(Λ0) pT on the charged particle multiplicity for the three samples shows a behavior analogous to that of charged primary tracks. © 2005 The American Physical Society.

Abstract:

We present a measurement of the top pair production cross section in pp̄ collisions at s=1.96TeV. We collect a data sample with an integrated luminosity of 194±11pb-1 with the CDF II detector at the Fermilab Tevatron. We use an artificial neural network technique to discriminate between top pair production and background processes in a sample of 519 lepton+jets events, which have one isolated energetic charged lepton, large missing transverse energy and at least three energetic jets. We measure the top pair production cross section to be σtt̄=6.6±1.1±1.5pb, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic. © 2005 The American Physical Society.
