Abstract:

We report on a search for the non-standard-model process u(c) + g --> t using pp[over ] collision data collected by the Collider Detector at Fermilab II detector corresponding to 2.2 fb;{-1}. The candidate events are classified as signal-like or backgroundlike by an artificial neural network. The observed discriminant distribution yields no evidence for flavor-changing neutral current top-quark production, resulting in an upper limit on the production cross section sigma(u(c) + g --> t) < 1.8 pb at the 95% C.L. Using theoretical predictions we convert the cross section limit to upper limits on flavor-changing neutral current branching ratios: B(t --> u + g) < 3.9 x 10;{-4} and B(t --> c + g) < 5.7 x 10;{-3}.

Abstract:

We report a measurement of the top-quark mass Mt in the dilepton decay channel tt虅鈫抌l鈥+谓l鈥瞓虅l-谓虅l. Events are selected with a neural network which has been directly optimized for statistical precision in top-quark mass using neuroevolution, a technique modeled on biological evolution. The top-quark mass is extracted from per-event probability densities that are formed by the convolution of leading order matrix elements and detector resolution functions. The joint probability is the product of the probability densities from 344 candidate events in 2.0fb-1 of pp虅 collisions collected with the CDF II detector, yielding a measurement of Mt=171.2卤2.7(stat)卤2.9(syst)GeV/c2. 漏 2009 The American Physical Society.

Abstract:

We perform a Dalitz plot analysis of the decay Ds+鈫扠+K-蟺+ with the CLEO-c data set of 586pb-1 of e+e- collisions accumulated at s=4.17GeV. This corresponds to about 0.57脳106 Ds卤Ds* pairs from which we select 14400 candidates with a background of roughly 15%. In contrast to previous measurements we find good agreement with our data only by including an additional f0(1370)蟺+ contribution. We measure the magnitude, phase, and fit fraction of K*(892)0K+, (1020)蟺+, K0*(1430)K+, f0(980)蟺+, f0(1710)蟺+, and f0(1370)蟺+ contributions and limit the possible contributions of other KK and K蟺 resonances that could appear in this decay. 漏 2009 The American Physical Society.

Abstract:

We present a measurement of the top quark mass with tt虅 dilepton events produced in pp虅 collisions at the Fermilab Tevatron (s=1.96TeV) and collected by the CDF II detector. A sample of 328 events with a charged electron or muon and an isolated track, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 2.9fb-1, are selected as tt虅 candidates. To account for the unconstrained event kinematics, we scan over the phase space of the azimuthal angles (谓1,谓2) of neutrinos and reconstruct the top quark mass for each 谓1, 谓2 pair by minimizing a 蠂2 function in the tt虅 dilepton hypothesis. We assign 蠂2-dependent weights to the solutions in order to build a preferred mass for each event. Preferred mass distributions (templates) are built from simulated tt虅 and background events, and parametrized in order to provide continuous probability density functions. A likelihood fit to the mass distribution in data as a weighted sum of signal and background probability density functions gives a top quark mass of 165.5-3.3+3.4(stat)卤3. 1(syst)GeV/c2. 漏 2009 The American Physical Society.

Abstract:

Using a sample of 2.59脳107 蠄(2S) decays collected by the CLEO-c detector, we present results of a study of 蠂c0 and 蠂c2 decays into two-meson final states.
