Abstract:

We search and find no evidence for CP violation in tau decays into the K(pi)nu(tau) final state. We provide limits on the imaginary part of the coupling constant Lambda describing a relative contribution of the CP violating processes with respect to the standard model to be -0.172

Abstract:

This paper presents the design and first measurements on the version 1.2 of the Beetle chip. The Beetle is a 128 channel pipelined readout chip which is intended for the silicon vertex detector, the inner tracker and the pile-up veto trigger of LHCb. In case of multianode photomultiplier tubes being used for the RICH readout, it is foreseen also to use the Beetle.Section II. gives a short overview of the chip architecture whereas section III. shows first measurements on the Beetle 1.2. In section IV. the results from a Total Ionizing Dose (TID) irradiation test is summarized, while an outlook on further tests given in section V.

Abstract:

A limit on the branching fraction for the decay Bo→γγ was presented using data collected at the γ(4S) resonance at the PEP-II asymmetric energy collider. The energy resolution was measured with a radioactive source at low energy and with electrons from Bhabha scattering at high energy. The energy deposits were reconstructed by grouping adjacent crystals with energy deposits greater than 1 MeV into clusters.

Abstract:

The performance of a prototype Ring Imaging Cherenkov Detector is studied using a charged particle beam. The detector performance, using CF4 and air as radiators, is described. Cherenkov angle precision and photoelectron yield using hybrid photo-diodes and multi-anode PMTs agree with simulations and are assessed in terms of the requirements of the LHCb experiment.

Development of an optical front-end readout system for the LHCb RICH detectors.

CERN REPORT 2001:5 (2001) 150-154

Authors:

Abstract:

The development of a front-end readout system for the LHCb Ring Imaging Cherenkov (RICH) detectors is in progress. The baseline choice for the RICH photon detector front-end electronics is a binary readout ASIC for an encapsulated silicon pixel detector. This paper describes a system to transmit the binary data with address ID and error codes, from a radiation harsh environment while keeping synchronisation. The total data read out for the fixed Level-0 readout period of 900ns is 32x36x440 non-zero-suppressed bits per Level-0 trigger, with a sustained Level-0 trigger rate of 1MHz. Multimode fibres driven by VCSEL devices are used to transmit data to the off-detector Level-1 electronics located in a non-radiation environment. The data are stored in 512Kbit deep QDR buffers.
