Black Hole

Lensing of space time around a black hole. At Oxford we study black holes observationally and theoretically on all size and time scales - it is some of our core work.

My research

I am a summer research student in the Astrophysics sub-department at Oxford, working with Dr Adrien La Posta and Prof. David Alonso. My research is in large-scale structure cosmology, focussing on cross-correlations between galaxy surveys and secondary anisotropies in the cosmic microwave background. I am currently using the thermal Sunyaev鈥揨el'dovich effect to measure the bias-weighted mean electron pressure of ionised gas as a function of redshift, combining data from the DESI Bright Galaxy Sample with multi-frequency observations from Planck. This extends existing tomographic measurements to lower redshift, where the signal is more sensitive to cosmology than to baryonic feedback, offering a way to disentangle the two. Alongside this I work on validating analysis pipelines against hydrodynamical simulations, using the FLAMINGO suite to test power-spectrum estimators against known feedback and cosmology variants. I am a Fellow of the Royal Astronomical Society.
