Abstract:

We carried out a neutron diffraction investigation of the magnetic phase diagram of dilute holmium in yttrium and deduced the critical concentration of holmium. We also obtained values for the crystal field parameters from the neutron inelastic scattering spectra of two yttrium holmium samples with subcritical holmium concentrations.
