Black Hole

Lensing of space time around a black hole. At Oxford we study black holes observationally and theoretically on all size and time scales - it is some of our core work.

Abstract:

The ATLAS detector is used to search for excited leptons in the electromagnetic radiative decay channel *鈫捨. Results are presented based on the analysis of pp collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 7 TeV corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 2.05fb-1. No evidence for excited leptons is found, and limits are set on the compositeness scale 螞 as a function of the excited lepton mass m *. In the special case where 螞=m *, excited electron and muon masses below 1.87 TeV and 1.75 TeV are excluded at 95% C.L., respectively. 漏 2012 CERN.

Abstract:

The production cross sections of the inclusive Drell-Yan processes W 卤鈫捨 and Z/纬鈭椻啋(=e, 渭) are measured in proton-proton collisions at 鈭歴=7TeV with the ATLAS detector. The cross sections are reported integrated over a fiducial kinematic range, extrapolated to the full range, and also evaluated differentially as a function of the W decay lepton pseudorapidity and the Z boson rapidity, respectively. Based on an integrated luminosity of about 35pb-1 collected in 2010, the precision of these measurements reaches a few percent. The integrated and the differential W卤 and Z/纬鈭 cross sections in the e and 渭 channels are combined, and compared with perturbative QCD calculations, based on a number of different parton distribution sets available at next-to-next-to-leading order.
